Naomi
Judd Agrees to Be Ambassador for
Huntington Ronald McDonald House
Huntington, W.Va. – Country
music singer, author and humanitarian Naomi Judd has
agreed to be the ambassador for the Ronald McDonald
House of Huntington.
“We are so excited
to have Naomi be a part of our family,” said
Tanyia Oakley, executive director of the Huntington
Ronald McDonald House. “She is the perfect fit
for our mission.”
As ambassador, Judd will
help create awareness of the House, its mission and
its dependence on community support through public
service announcements and personal appearances at
Huntington Ronald McDonald House events, when her
schedules allows.
“I am proud to represent
the Huntington Ronald McDonald House,” Judd
said. “Coming from one of the areas that the
House serves, I understand how important the Ronald
McDonald House is to families who have to travel miles
of often winding rural roads to be close to their
children while they receive medical treatment.”
As a mother and former
nurse, Judd has an appreciation for the benefit the
house offers families and their children while they
are hospitalized.
“When your child
is sick, that is all you care about, and having a
place like the Ronald McDonald House allows you to
focus on your child, while still meeting your own
physical needs such as a good hot meal and a comfortable
place to rest,” Judd said.
The House, which provides
a place for families of critically ill and injured
children, is celebrating 20 years of service to the
community this year.
“Since we opened
our doors, the Huntington Ronald McDonald House has
provided a home away from home for over 7,000 families
from all over the Tri-State area, 29 states and 4
countries,” Oakley said. “And from the
beginning we have only asked for $10 a night donation.
We have never turned any one away for the inability
to pay.”
Judd will make her
first personal appearance in June at the annual Fifth
Third Bank Ronald McDonald House Charities Open golf
tournament on the 4th and Dinner/Dance on the 2nd
at Guyan Golf & Country Club. For more information,
